XLCubed have worked with and developed Planning,
Budgeting and Forecasting solutions across financial and non-financial
projects. Over the past decade we have developed a number of
components that will allow a solution to be built to meet your
exact needs. With the demise of Microsoft Performancepoint
Planning, which the market believed to be Microsoft’s strategic
platform for the market, we decided to revisit this area and
deliver appropriate products.
Our experience has shown
that planning solutions range from the very simple only requiring
a modicum of technology to facilitate a clients needs through
to sophisticated enterprise level multi-company modelling solutions.
At the high end of the market there are very expensive tools
which purport to deliver high end functionality. Our tools are
not designed to compete with these products but our belief is
that many (if not most) planning solutions do not need that sophistication
and indeed many of these tools end up with a high degree of customisation.
The components we offer ensure that you can pick and choose
the parts relevant to you. Whether you simply want to write back
from Excel or the Web to a database and version control your
plan to a fully work/process flow managed solution distributed
across your organisation, we will be able to help.
Our experience in various technologies and techniques leads
us to believe that the best underlying technology is true “In
Memory MOLAP” of which TM1 was one of the earliest
proponents. Today there are a number of other in memory
MOLAP offerings in the market. We have now integrated a MOLAP
engine into our new XLCubed Planning offering which we believe
is a truly cost effective and extendable option for most organisations.
We do recognise that ultimately the cost/benefit is unique to
each organisation and we believe in offering informed choice.
Our in depth experience with Analysis Services (which we believe
to be the most cost effective reporting and analytics platform)
has led us to deliver AS based planning over the years and we
have recently packaged these up into an extension option for
XLCubed called XLCubed data entry extensions.
XLCubed has always supported standard AS writeback in the base product but we
have not been fans of the implementations since AS 2000. Each version 2005, 2008
has improved but some common business requirements cannot be met easily. |
