XLCubed is an Excel-Addin for accessing Microsoft Analysis Services data, enabling business users to leverage their existing Excel skills. XLCubed provides flexible and dynamic grids, fully layout flexible formulae, and effective in-cell charting without the restrictions associated with pivot-tables.  Excel itself offers more layout flexibility than ‘custom’ dashboard tools, and XLCubed takes this to the next level, delivering business effective dashboards rather than mere eye candy. Once complete, web based deployment is just a few clicks away.

Powerful Analytics:

Questions in business are often simple to ask, but can prove exceptionally difficult answer quickly. V6 has a new visual query writer which brings more power to the end user, in an intuitive way. In the resulting report, any number can be further drilled, or quickly decomposed with XLCubed into contributing elements by any hierarchy in the cube. Mobile

Reports, dashboards, and input templates built in the Excel Edition can be published to XLCubed Web, and accessed from any device. Our iPad / iPhone App is available in the Apple appstore, and provides an optimised browser experience for XLCubed Web reports.

Budgeting and Planning:

XLCubed provides the write enabled environment required for budgeting and planning solutions, in both a ‘grid’ and formula mode. The native writeback process within Analysis Services can be extended and customised as required through a relational writeback facility providing stored procedure access to handle additional complexities not handled within Analysis Services.

Version 6 fully integrates in-cell charting to facilitate the type of effective data visualisation techniques espoused by leading figures in the arena such as Edward Tufte and Stephen Few. Where required, in-cell charts can be fully row and column dynamic, adding new depth and insight to data exploration and slicing and dicing.

Powerful User Defined Calculations:

Most cube deployments will have a number of inbuilt calculations which a user can simply select. In some environments there may be hundreds of readily available calculations, but it’s impossible and impractical to build everything into the cube. XLCubed enables users to easily add their own dynamic custom calculations, or Custom Groupings leveraging existing Excel skills. Calculations can be defined at multiple levels and where required shared centrally with other users.

Report Deployment

Reports, dashboards, and input templates built in the Excel Edition can be published to XLCubed Web for wider distribution with a few button clicks. XLCubed Web can be deployed standalone or within SharePoint or other Portals. Web reports are WYSIWYG, and fully data connected Depending on the report type, and the settings chosen at publication time, web reports can have any level of interactivity from interactive slice and dice to fully static.
