| BP’s (British Petroleum) reputation for performance management is dependent on having high performance data collection and analysis tools at all levels of the organization - from the wellhead to the boardroom. Using off the shelf products such as Microsoft Analysis Services and XLCubed, BP has built MiDAS to deliver a robust BI toolkit to all levels of the Exploration & Production Segment globally. Although E&P looked at a range of reporting products, its preference was for an Excel add-in, pure and simple. The choice of XLCubed was based primarily on the product’s functional and technical features rather than on the vendor’s extensive oil and gas industry experience. XLCubed has the best features of OLAP Excel add-ins. We liked the tight integration with Excel so that users can design reports and use other interrogation functions within Excel. Overall, it is the speed and power of XLCubed that has established its value to analysts within BP. |

Cargill Value Investment is a world-leading investor in management and credit-intensive assets. The group was founded in 1987 from Cargill’s proprietary high-yield trading operations and achieved critical mass in the wake of the United States financial crisis of the early 1990s. Throughout the decade, Cargill Value Investment expanded to include high-yield distressed corporate obligations, credit-intensive loan portfolios and opportunistic real estate across the globe. With this growth came the challenge of distributing and managing information in a decentralized environment. In our pursuit of a solution to this business problem, we developed a data warehouse. However, this only solved half the problem. Now that we have a single source of truth, how do we make it accessible to our
end users with minimal training and disruption? The answer to that for us is XLCubed - a product that seamlessly integrates with Excel and is intuitive to use.
A critical success factor in the process of implementing this solution has been the support that the XLCubed staff has been able to give us both in terms of XLCubed and the design/implementation of our Analysis Service cubes which are being used across the globe.

| Our business analysts have developed sophisticated management reports within Excel for a number of years. With the recent introduction of Analysis Services Cubes and XLCubed, they are now able to significantly reduce the effort
to produce the reports and have the power of XLCubed to carry out further analysis. The ability to get behind any number in the spreadsheet through XLCubed’s breakout feature to analyze the detail of the number is a major step

| Nomura has a large MIS application, based on Analysis Services, which reports revenues, expenses and risk on a daily basis. This application has been in production for many years and the users are product controllers, finance
and risk analysts who use Excel extensively in their work. The MIS development team has in the past provided several ways to enable users to extract the information into Excel, for example, by building wizards in Excel that allow
the user to choose data to extract from the cube. This has been a costly approach in terms of both development and deployment effort .In the next version of our MIS application currently under development, the MIS team and end-
users are using XLCubed almost exclusively to build their Excel based reports, replacing all the current methods of extracting data from the cubes. The MIS team has tested XLCubed extensively and has found that it is much quicker to build reports using XLCubed than any other method. More importantly, since XLCubed allows users to use the full flexibility of Excel and does not impose any restrictions on its use, MIS users can produce reports which reflect much more precisely the results that Nomura management and analysts want to monitor. |

| We’ve been using XLCubed for almost a year now as a core component of our Management Accounting infrastructure. This tool was instrumental in allowing us to leverage our investment in Analysis Services cubes, while nicely plugging into our existing Excel workflow. Formula based reports give us the ability to quickly query hundreds of thousands of records from multiple cubes and consolidate those into pre-formatted Excel spreadsheets. Gridbased slicing and dicing is also a powerful analysis tool that bridges most gaps left open by traditional pivot tables when faced with multi-dimensional sources.
